Kira Tippenhauer was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti which is where she was introduced to pottery at a young age by a very close family member, Haitian renown ceramic artist, Marithou Dupoux.
In 2004, Kira moved to the United States to pursue her education. While in graduate school she realized that she never grew tired of ceramic practice. Whether it being wheel throwing, sculpting, or hand building, ceramic art has always been Kira’s therapy.
For the past decade, Kira has had a persistent affinity for hand building work, although it requires time and patience. Kira currently resides in Fort-Lauderdale, Florida. You can find Kira at The Little Haiti Cultural Center hostings workshops or at The Miami Flea selling her handmade ceramic.
